Introduction
This case study highlights a freelance project I completed for Samsung, focused on Scratch, the coding platform designed for children. The project involved creating an animated tutorial to introduce and teach the platform’s features.
Project Overview
Scratch is a widely-used coding platform that empowers children to learn programming through interactive and creative projects. Samsung aimed to create an engaging tutorial to introduce the platform to young learners. My role was to animate the tutorial, following a pre-defined script provided by the client.
My Role and Responsibilities
As the freelance animator for this project, I was responsible for the following tasks:
- 1. Understanding the script and storyboard provided by Samsung.
- 2. Animating the tutorial using Moho and After Effects.
- 3. Ensuring the animation was engaging, child-friendly, and aligned with the platform’s educational goals.
- 4. Delivering the final animation within the project timeline.
Tools and Techniques
To create the animated tutorial, I utilized the following tools and techniques:
- • Moho: For character rigging and animation.
- • After Effects: For motion graphics, transitions, and final compositing.
- • Script Analysis: To ensure the animation followed the narrative and educational objectives.
Challenges and Solutions
One of the key challenges was ensuring the animation was both educational and entertaining for children. To address this, I focused on creating vibrant visuals, smooth transitions, and clear instructional elements. Regular feedback from the client helped refine the animation to meet their expectations.
Outcome and Impact
The final animated tutorial successfully introduced Scratch to young learners, making coding accessible and fun. Samsung was highly satisfied with the outcome, and the tutorial received positive feedback for its engaging and educational content.
